Pandora Sphinx Moth

Found this visitor in my garage today. I like the camouflage pattern. It's wingspan is about 4 inches.

July 17th - 21st fishing report

Denise 2 lb 9 oz.
Brian 3 lb 8 oz.
Fishing was a little slow for this abbreviated trip. The weekend started out warm and WINDY. Temps above 80 degrees every day. Rained hard one day. Didn't fish as much as we normally do. Only caught 52 bass for the week. Best was 3 lb 8 oz caught in Browns Bay. Water is still a tad high, and extremely warm 80 - 85 degrees. Weeds are mostly slimly; hard to find good clean milfoil. The bass were not very active like prior weeks. Some of our honey holes seemed dead. Tried fishing around the "pimple", but it didn't produce. I caught my first Walleye in five years. Caught it at Conger Island on a white Senko just before dark Tuesday. Kind of weird that it took five years to catch one by accident. Had a big fish on Sunday fishing from the dock with a jig loc & creature bait. Set the hook and played it for about 15 seconds before it ran hard and broke the line. About 30 seconds later a BIG BASS jumped out of the water about 70 feet from the dock. DAMN! The big ones always seem to get away. That's okay, I'll fish another day. Till next report...

"Schemp"

This is baby barn swallow that was hatched under our lower deck. It has three siblings, Moe, Larry and Curly. Schemp was the first kicked out of his nest. He's been very friendly and visits us often. We watched the Stooges mother feed them insects for three weeks.

July 3rd - 11th fishing report

Another great week at Black Lake in the books! The first weekend was extremely windy and warm. We spent a lot of time on our deck just relaxing. Then the heat wave hit and the temps were in the upper 80's low 90's all week. Some days just too hot to fish, so we swam and floated on our rafts. We did manage to catch 150 bass for the week. The biggest were 3 lb even, two at 3 lb 1 oz, 3 lb 4 oz and 3 lb 10 oz. Saturday morning was the most active when we had 40 fish for the day. Water level has been dropping all week, but still seems a tad above 'normal'. On Friday late afternoon, it FINALLY rained, and hard! Downpour was about 1 inch in an hour and another 1/2 inch over night. I think this helped the fishing activity the following morning. Sunday was also the new moon. All and all, an enjoyable week. Next report cominng soon.
