Fishing report Sept. 25th - 26th

3 lb 3 oz Largemouth 9/25/10
Saturday - Fished 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.  55 degrees to start with the high around 62.  Today was overcast and very windy. S/W winds 15 mph with gusts to 30 mph.  Fished Upper Deep Bay and Dwaynes Island area.  Caught 9 bass.  Went back out at 5:00 pm.  The sun actuallly came back out for awhile.  Fish north of Prince Island and Conger Island N/E.  I was trying to stay out of the wind.  Had a nice scrappy smallmout at little under three pounds.  It put up a good fight but was no match for me.  HA HA!  Caught a nice 3 lb 3 oz largemouth bass just before dark.  Fished until 7:00 pm.  Caught 6 bass.  15 total for the day.
Sunday - Fished 7:00 am - 12:00 pm.  53 degrees to start and around 58 at noon.  The morning was very cloudy and overcast, but the lake was CALM!  Virtually no wind all morning.  A very nice change from yesterday.  Started at Conger Island south and caught a few right away.  Went to U.D. Bay, then The Cut and M.P. Bay.  Caught a handful and had 10 bass by the time I headed to Emery Island.  Caught 5 bass near the K buoy.  One of those was a 3 lb 8 oz largemouth beauty.  That makes 15 bass for the morning and a total of 30 for the weekend.  It didn't rain Saturday or Sunday until we packed up and headed home.  Water level is fairly stable and about 14 inches below our dock.  Just a tad high for late September.  The lake is beautiful this time of year with Autumn really showing it's colors.  The air is cool and crisp.  This means only one more week for the Lunker Hunters.  Next week we'll make one last try to find the ever elusive five pound lunker.  That wraps up another report folks.  Until next week...

Dash for Cash Tournament weekend Sept. 18th - 19th

The Log Cabins docks

Well, tournament weekend was awesome!  The weather was perfect, and the fishing was great.  Saturday -  Practice day for the Sunday tournament.  Fished 7 am to Noon.We targeted three areas that have been producing for us lately.  Did decent and caught 10 bass.  Sunday/Tournament day - 5:30 am started the ride in the dark to the Log Cabins docks.  Launch started at 6:20 am.  Lake was calm, temp was 58 degrees and warmed to 70 degrees.  It turned out to be sunny all day.  We launched #4 and easily got to the bay we wanted first and laid claim to our area.  First cast was 7:00 am and we had three keepers we needed by 8:00 am.  At 8:30 am I caught a 3.92 lb Lunker.  We started culling and throwing back the smaller ones.  At 10:15 am we decided to return to the docks to weigh-in the big one.  That turned out to be a good move and we won the #3 hourly lunker award of $650.  Our other two fish were 2.57 lbs and 2.48 lbs.  That gave us a three fish total of 8.97 lbs, which was good enough to get us $175 and 10th place (tie) overall finish in the tournament.  The winner of the tournament weighed in 12.75 lbs.  That team also won Lunker of the Day at 5.77 lbs.  We are very pleased with 10th place as it was our highest finish ever.    Well, that wraps-up tournament weekend and another fishing report.  Until next week...

Fishing report Sept 11th - 12th

No fishing pics this week.  But this is a nice aerial picture of the lake.  Saturday - Beautiful sunny day.  High around 70 degrees and the lake was calm.  Fished 7:00 am to 1:30 pm  The day started cool at 46 degrees.  Fished The Cut, south to naked man point.  Caught 6 bass.  Went to M.P. Bay and R.P. Bay, caught 4 bass.  Hit Lonesome Bay and caught 4 bass.  Final stop was U.D. Bay west.  Caught 6 bass there.  20 bass for the morning but nothing over a pound and half.  Went back out at 3:30 pm.  Fishing until 6:30 pm.  Fished The Narrows and T - Island.  Caught 5 bass, nothin special.  Sunday -  Cold front came in last night.  Skys were overcast, windy, sprinkles, temp 58 degrees.  Headed out at 7:15 am.  Winds kicked up 10 to 20 mph.  Gusts to 30 mph.  Stayed close by and fished The Narrows to the boat house and across.  Caught 1 sunfish, 1 smallmouth bass and 1 pike.  Called it a day at 10:30 am.  That makes it 26 total bass for the weekend.  The lake level dropped another 4 - 6 inches since last Tuesday.  I suppose it's back to normal level for this time of year.  Around 16" below the dock.  The season is nearing it's end, the weather and lake are cooling and summer is almost over.  Autumn is only about a week away.  But, the "Dash for Cash -
Big Bass - Lunker Hunt" team tournament is next week.  It's the only tournament we participate in.  This year there are 136 teams/boats.  We are hoping to get a top 20 finish again.  Next week I'll be reporting on the tournament and our results.  Well, that wraps up another report.  Until next week...

Fishing report Sept. 4th - 7th

Denise with her first 4 pounder!  This Lunker tipped the scales at 4 lbs. 2 oz.  This baby was FAT!

Here is this weeks report.  Arrived at the lake Friday evening.  Noticed the lake level dropped 4 ".  This weekend we had Hurricane Earl remnants.  Very HIGH winds with gusts to 40 mph.  Saturday we managed to catch 9 fish while putting up with the rain and wind.  Fished 7:45 am to 12:30 pm.  No evening fishing.  Just too windy.    Sunday we fished Apple Island  7:30 am to 1 pm.  Stayed there the whole time to dodge the wind.  Didn't even catch one!  Boo hoo.  :(   Went to the Narrows for the last 10 minutes and caught 1 fish.  2 lbs 10 oz.  No evening fishing again!  Wind put a damper on things.  Monday - The day started sunny, but turned out to be mostly overcast.  Made up for the prior two days with 18 bass.  It was a good day.  Two of those were real nice 4 pound Lunkers and decent 3 pounder.  I started with a 3 lb 3 oz in The Cut.  Denise (mrs. no net) started her day with a 4 lb 2 oz largemouth lunker at 8:45 am.  She named it "Earl".  We fished The Cut, Dwaynes Island, M.P. Bay and R.P. Bay.  Caught 1 pike.  I went back out at 3:30 pm to 5 pm.  Fished north of Prince Island.  Caught 3 bass.  One of those was a 4 lb 1 oz largemouth.  It was a nice lunker but Denise's looked much fatter.  Tuesday -  It rained over night and this morning before I went out.  Fished 8:15 am to 12:45 pm.  Only caught 4 bass.  The bite was very slow this morning.   Hit Conger, Conger Shoals, and briefly at Dwaynes.  Water level dropped another 4 " by Tuesday.  It's still high for this time of year.  That wraps up another fishing report for the lunker hunters.  Until next time...
