Sept 24th & 25th fishing report

Sunday the 25th pontoon boat cruising in the bay.
Another pic of the bay on a nice day.

Denise didn't fish this weekend so there are no pictures of bass this week.  Plus I didn't bring any big ones back to the dock for her to photograph.  Saturday the 24th brought overcast skies and a light drizzle all day.  I managed to catch 16 bass for the day.  The biggest was a 2 lbs 14 oz smallmouth caught in RPBay.  In the evening the action picked up in Lonesome Bay, but I couldn't land a big one.  Sunday the 25th was a beautiful day.  Clear blue skies and temps in the upper 70's.  I managed to catch 13 bass in the morning.  We really hated to pack up and leave on such a nice day.  Plus the fishing is improving after a slow spell.  Oh well.  Such is life.  Maybe next week we'll catch the big one.  Until next time folks...      Fish On!

Sept 17th, 18th &19th fishing report Dash for Cash Tournament

Denise Dash for Cash Smallmouth 2 lb 14 oz

Sunday 18th was the Dash for Cash - Big Bass - Lunker Hunt.  The day started out chilly at 42 degrees but turned out to be a great sunny day.  High of 72, calm to light winds.  It was a tough day fishing for us.  We caught 18 bass for the day but most were on the small side.  Our best three fish totaled only 6.91 lbs.  Denise caught our best with a 2 lb 14 oz smallie.  We did not finish in the top 20 this year.  But we did have a lot of fun.  The winner of the tournament weighed 3 fish at 11.18 lbs.  Lunker of the day was 4.91 lbs.

Sept 10th & 11th fishing report

Best of the week Denise with a nice 3 lb 9 oz Lunker.
It was another nice weekend at the lake.  The mornings were cool but it warmed up both days.  The fishing was slow.  We only caught 23 bass.  Denise caught the Lunker of the weekend.  A real nice 3 lb 9 oz largemouth near Emery Island.  Her best so far for the season.  The water level is on the high side.  It rose a a few inches during last week.  I think this is contributing to the low catch quantity.  I hope it picks up next week for the tournament.    Next weeks report will be about the Dash for Cash and our results.  Untill next time...

September 3rd to 5th fishing report

Best of the week 3 lb 7 oz largemouth Sunday the 5th near the Indian River.

Here is the sunset from Saturday the 3rd.

The weather was a little tricky for Labor Day weekend.  And so goes the fishing.  The forecast was calling for rain Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Saturday turned out to be hot and humid with no rain.  Sunday was cloudy and windy but no rain until overnight.  We measured an inch and a half of rain in our guage Monday morning.  For the weekend we only managed to catch 23 bass.  We caught 15 on Saturday and only 8 on Sunday.  Monday we did not fish.  Best bass of the weekend was 3 lb 7 oz caught Sunday evening near the Indian River.  We haven't fished that area of the lake that much this year.  Denise managed to catch a 4 lb 8 oz Bowfin (Dog fish) Saturday morning in The Cut.  In the evening she lost a big bass near Conger Island.  It was one of the few times this year she actually called for "the net".  I could tell it was decent by the swirl it put on the surface and her rod bend.  When I bent over to pick up the net, I heard it jump and the splash, and then I heard "Oh Shit"!  It spit the hook and got off.  Needless to say, Denise was pissed.  It looked to be her first 5 pounder.  What a shame.  We both tried to catch it for the next half hour, pitching and casting away.  But no luck.  We packed it in at dark and called it a night.  We'll try this area again, that's for sure!  Maybe we can catch it on Tournament day?  That'd be awesome!  11 days and counting... This coming weekend we will be in practice mode for the tourney.  Trying to find hot spots.  It could be difficult because the fishing has been really slow lately and the water level is on the rise.  Of course, that could change quickly.  Till next time folks...
