Arrived at Black Lake Thursday evening.  Finally had some decent rain.  1 1/2 inches in the rain guage.

Friday 27th -  Fished alone today 9 a.m. to 1:15 pm.  Weather was nice and not too hot or humid for a change.  Light northeast wind.  Fishing was a little slow, only caught 7 bass.  I did manage to catch a 3 pounder at Conger Island.  Also caught a nice 3 lb 12 oz at Jennies Island. Fished 6:45 pm to 8:45 p.m.  Caught 9 bass in "The Cut".  Weeds are clearing up in some locations.  16 total bass for the day.

Saturday 28th - Fished 6:55 a.m to 12:45 p.m.  Cloudy an 65 F. degrees to start out with light northeast wind again.  Caught 17 bass.  Nothing special and none over 3 pounds.  Fished 7:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m.  Only managed 5 bass in "The Cut".  22 total bass for the day.  No big ones again.

Sunday 29th - Fished 7:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Clear and cool morning.  55 F. degrees.  Calm and no wind to start.  Only caught 2 bass.  Probably the slowing fishing of the year for us.  Although a cool front moved in overnight, it didn't take long for it to get sunny and HOT. Water is green with algae blooms and going through it's seasonal cycle.  Fished 6:25 p.m. to 8:50 p.m.  Only caught 2 bass again.  4 total bass for the day.  Our worst take of the season.  Denise did manage to hook a very large pike down in Grindstone Bay near the Indian River.  It grabbed her lure about 8 feet from the boat while she was reeling in a dead cast.  It ran out her drag about 30 feet, jumped about 2 feet out of the water and SPIT THE HOOK.  Pretty much scared the heck out of her because it all happened so quickly.  She was actually glad it got off because she does not like catching pike, with their sharp teeth and all.  I wish it stayed on so we could get the actual size and a picture.  I estimate it was about 32 inches or so, and maybe 7 to 10 pounds.  Can't say for sure.

Monday 30th -  Going home day.  Fished alone 7:10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.  59 F. degrees to start, partly sunny with a light southwest wind.  Only caught 3 bass.  1 was a smally.  Obviously the fishing has slowed down for the Lunker Hunters.  Hoping this changes for our next trip to Black Lake.

45 total bass for this trip.  Best was 3 lbs 12 ozs.  Enjoy the photos!  Until next time folks...

Fish On!
