Another nice weekend at Black in the books. We had Wayne take down a big dead Elm tree near our cottage. It's a big relief to have it down. We've been worried about a storm knocking it down onto our cottage. The weekend brought really nice weather again. The fishing was decent. Biggest was 3 lbs 14 oz.
Saturday August 24th - Caught 13 bass. Fished 8:15 am to 1:30 pm. The weather was so nice we didn't want to come in. Lake was calm and the skies were sunny. We fished Red Point Bay, Crab Island Jennies Island and our favorite buoy. In the evening we fished in our bay from 6:45 pm till dark. Caught nadda! That's why I don't like fishing in our bay.
Sunday August 25th - Caught 23 bass for the day. Fished 6:45 am to 11:45 am. Caught 17 in the morning. Had one 3 1/2 pounds but had to let it go quickly. It swallowed the hook, so I had to do the hook removal through the gills trick. It seems to work pretty good and gives the fish a good chance of living. Fished 6:00 pm till 7:30 pm, alone. Caught 6 bass. Caught one really nice 3 lb 14 oz near Upper Deep Bay. It was a fighter! It pulled the drag out and dove pretty strong. I thought maybe I had a 5er, but no luck.
Monday August 26th - Met with Wayne the contractor. No fishing today. Went home early.
36 bass for this trip. So the bite seemed pretty good this trip. The weeds and weed lines are changing quickly now. Some areas that had thick weeds are starting to clear and clean up. Some areas in Lonesome Bay are still holding slimy weeds. The lake is changing as we get deep into the summer and Autumn is around the corner. The Dash for Cash Big Bass Tournament is only three weeks away. Getting excited as usual. Until next time folks... Fish On!
