July 23rd to 31st fishing report

4 lb 1 oz Largemouth

Andrew and Jessica learning the ropes at Black Lake.  (and catching on quick!)

174 bass for the week!  Good fishing week.  Broke the four pound barrier with a 4 lb 1 oz largemouth.  Caught it in "The Cut" near, what we call "Naked Man Point". (named by my brother for an ugly sight he witnessed years ago).  Denise landed two nice, solid 3 pounders.  For the week we had decent weather,  a couple days of rain, but that didn't stop us from fishing each day.  On the 24th I had on a big fish!  I was thinking this was the big lunker bass I've been waiting for.  It kept making hard runs and had my heart pumping.  I played it for awhile and was finally able to get it near the boat to rear it's head.  I was expecting to see a large pike or bass, but it had wiskers.  Damn channel Catfish!  Doh!  It weighed around 7 lbs.  Oh well.  It was exciting anyway.  Andrew and Jessica came up for a few days and got some fishing in with us.  We had a great time.  When we weren't fishing, we played Yahtzee, watched movies and Curb your Enthusiasm.  The kids went on to Alex Bay to round out their vacation.  Until next time folks...

July 2nd to 10th fishing report

Denise with bass.

3 lb 6 oz Bass

Another week of fishing is in the books.  105 bass for the week  Still not fishing as much as normal, but not a bad take considering time spent on the lake.  3 lb 6 oz was best for the week.  Weather was great most of the week.  Water level normal.  Weeds are still on the sparse side, but will definately increase as we get deeper into the summer.  We have a couple more week long fishing trips planned for this year.  It would be nice if we can catch some bigger bass.  Still hoping to land a 5 pounder.  It's been a long time!  But we are having a blast!  If were not catching fish, we're just relaxing enjoying our time with each other at Black Lake.  Until next time...

June 18th to 24th fishing report

3 lb 8 oz Largemouth Bass
Due to some problems, we did not fish as much as we normally do the first week of bass season.  None the less, we did get some fishing in and caught around 90 bass for the week.  Best of the week was 3 lb 8 oz.  Not too shabby.  Caught a bunch of 2+ pounders.  But small bass dominated our catch.  We had a mixed bag of weather.  Some real nice days early in the week and then overcast and some rain towards the end.  Water level is about normal now for this time of year.  Not many weeds around so far and the water is fairly clear.  It sure is a great time of year to be at the lake.  Next report will come sometime after the 11th.  Until then...

2011 Update

Howdy folks.  It's June 16th and we haven't spent much time yet at the lake.  The water level has been extremely high this spring, which has prevented us from putting the hoist, dock and boat in the water.  We hope to do that the 18th and 19th. The watel level is around normal now. There is a chance that we won't be out on the lake opening day (18th) for the first time in 6 years.  It's very disappointing, but we can't control mother nature.  Monday we can not fish, but we hope to be fishing from Tuesday the 21st through Sunday 26th.  I'll create the first fishing reports of the 2011 bass season shortly after the 26th.  Until then...
